The Lakota Cambridge Academy will be the first educational institution to combine the highest standard of international K-12 core academics in math, sciences, humanities and the arts with a context celebrating and teaching Lakota culture, language and philosophy.

The complex will serve children from K-12th grade and partner with universities and colleges to ensure students opportunities to attend higher education institutions and be fully prepared for success.

The project is named Sunka Wakan, the Lakota word for horse, as herds of wild mustangs rescued from slaughter will be an essential part of the school, providing cultural opportunities and equine therapy for children. The rescued mustangs will roam free on thousands of acres in the ecotourism complex, generating funds to achieve financial sustainability while caring for the rescued wild mustangs.
